Meet Thoughtful Human — we're on a mission to help you find honest ways to communicate within dynamic relationships and challenging life circumstances. With plastic-free, plantable cards, Thoughtful Human offers ultra sustainable sentiments for real issues, and a hub with resources and community to help people find the support they need.
Hey! I'm Ali. I’ve been on a complex journey with grief since I lost my favorite human to colon cancer in 2011. I’ve watched many family members and friends struggle with addiction and other mental health issues, and have seen firsthand the devastating effects for everyone involved.
I created Thoughtful Human in 2017 to help people find honest ways to communicate in complex relationships and challenging circumstances like these. To me, Thoughtful Human represents our shared struggle to love, fight, grieve, forgive, overcome, and celebrate — even in some of our darkest moments. It’s accepting and de-stigmatizing our differences and meeting our loved ones where they’re at. It’s being there — consistently — when it really counts, and leading these difficult conversations with and kindness.
WE CHALLENGE YOU — to care, connect, and communicate more. We challenge you to ask the simple questions — again and again — that build trust and create the space for real conversations. We challenge you to practice radical empathy and lead these difficult conversations with kindness.
WE INVITE YOU to join this movement and make it your own — share your story, share your needs, share your feedback. We want to hear it — all of it — so we can keep creating honest, relevant sentiments and series that matter to you. (hello@thoughtfulhuman.co)

STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR POT
Fill your pot 2/3 full with good potting soil — firmly full, but not packed. we recommend placing the pot indoors in a bright, sunny spot that isn't too cold. Keeping the seed paper inside keeps your outside environment protected.
STEP 2: PLANT YOUR PAPER
Take your plantable paper and place it on the soil in your pot. if you have room you can lay the whole card flat. If not, you can tear it in half or into smaller pieces to fit the space (Note: It's okay if the paper overlaps!).
STEP 3: COVER + WATER
Spread a 1/8 inch layer of soil over the top of the the paper and gently press down. After planting, give your pot a good soak. You want the paper and the soil to be damp, but not swimming in water. Keep the paper moist until sprouts appear (generally within 10-14 days!).
